MOSCOW vs. SAINT-P

Each time I used to come to Moscow, I didn't feel that it could ever be my city.

Too many people, non-stop rushing, as if they were running after money, forgetting that there is life too, with an overwhelming feeling of a city-factory, non-stop working and eating your energy.

I remember people that like this city saying that it can be very much energizing, which means, or you are on the wave or the wave drowns you.

If you talk with people, you understand that Muscovite and Saint Petersburg are two different kinds of species.

During this trip I decided to explore Moscow without judging but simply welcoming her, and after already a day there, I realized that I had to write about.

Indeed, I was greatly surprised by the atmosphere and my eyes very enthusiastic by the surrounding to the point of not wanting to sleep at all.

So, today, I want to share a funny vision of the contrasts between the two biggest cities of Russia : Moscow and Saint Petersburg.

How different are they ?

In which way are they the example of two different lifestyles and mentality ?

  • In Moscow, you work, and if you have enough money and maybe time, you can enjoy. In Saint Petersburg, you live.

  • Two different lifestyles: Moscow is hype fashionable and modern, Saint Petersburg is romantic, antique and traditional.

  • Moscow is about how much you earn and spend, this will position yourself,
Saint Petersburg is about how beautiful you feel.

  • Moscow is about making the best of life, at fast speed. Saint Petersburg is about slow motion.

  • One is the capital, the second is the soul.

  • Moscow is ecstatic, Saint Petersburg is a little depressive (except during the white nights)

  • Moscow is a city similar to a souk (bazaar) of everything and everyone, Saint Petersburg has a cultural identity.

  • One is like a world by itself with a soviet accent, the other is like a golden bubble with European taste.

  • If people walk in Moscow they must be tourists, if people walk in Saint Petersburg, they simply live.

To conclude, Saint Petersburg and Moscow being the main cities of Russia, are like two opposite worlds, as if there were not from the same country.

Visiting both of them is undoubtedly a must because you will see how diverse, complex and grandiose is Russian heritage and culture.

Your heart will immediately know if Saint Petersburg owns it or Moscow owns it, but no matter which one got your heart, you will desire to come regularly to both of them

PS: I hope you will enjoy the photos made with film camera ! It's not only about touristic places, more about an insider look of Moscow in depth.
